Recap: Opening Day @ Petco Park

I'm late with this post. Busy weekend....

I was at the Dodgers/Padres game at Petco Park last Thursday for Opening Day with my wife and son.

First stop was at Richard Walker's Pancake House. First time here. Food was great.

I recommend the place. Click here for more info.

Not much going on this early in the morning. Game was to start at 4pm.

Super Dodger fan was here -

L.A. Times Dodgers beat writer Dylan Hernandez. He sounded really excited for this season!

Maybe not.

From there, we walked over to East Village.

They closed a few blocks and the city brought a bunch of vendors, food trucks, music and a mini concert. Good times.

Went back to the main gate in Petco Park.

A weird looking alien was here. I think Navy is trying to recruit him.

Mr. Padre was here.

The Miami Sound Machine was here.

Fans waiting to get in.

I bought two tickets in the lawn section. I'm happy that I did. My son had a great time playing in the grass and I enjoyed it too. I got a great view of the stadium and the big screen is on the right side.

Steve Garvey was here. He says he got stressed out when trying to come up with $2 billion to purchase the Dodgers. That's why he has no hair now.

IMG_0818

Magic Johnson was here. He was calling Ned Colletti. I over-heard the conversation.... "You signed Juan Uribe?".

Big line to grab a burger but here in Petco Park it moves fast! I honestly think it's the employees. Plus I didn't see a 90 year old man working the register like at Dodger Stadium.

I'm the only man that puts french fries inside his burger -

About to turn 10 months. It's going by too fast.

This is the real Magic....

I did score a few autographs. Click here if you want to see them.

Oh, one more thing. I almost forgot.....

After the game we were taking pictures and a Padres employee came up to us and gave this baseball to my son. It was a really nice gesture.

He said the ball landed in his area during batting practice. It had to be when the Dodgers were hitting because this ball is a Dodger Stadium 50th anniversary baseball.

But why do the Dodgers bring their own baseballs on the road? I thought the home team covers everything. Weird.

But really happy!

It was nice meeting many fans that read this blog. Thanks for all the kind words. It was also nice meeting J.P. Hoornstra. Please check out his Dodgers blog over at the L.A. Daily News. {linked here} He does a great job.

It was a good day. Plus the Dodgers won!

That's it for now.

LOOKS LIKE A GREAT TIME! I MUST GO TO THAT STADIUM SOON!

Also about the baseballs i have heard many times from different people that the road teams bring their own baseballs' and that is why the visiting team hardly throw any baseballs into the crowd during batting practice. i might be wrong but its what i've heard. =)

I've been putting fries in my burgers since the '80s! I never met anyone else who did that before! That's cool that you do it too.

@ Dodgerbobble - Thanks!

@ capataz - I did not know that. I really thought the home team takes care of all that. Interesting.

@ West Coast Grrlie Blather - Thank you! It brought a smile to my son.
