I mentioned last week that I was going to miss the '81 Dodgers reunion because my wife was going on a Math conference in Palm Springs. {linked here}
It was nice. While my wife was at the conference, I had time to kill with my son. We just hit downtown Palm Springs and check out the stores.
I caught this poster outside a empty business in Palm Springs last Saturday. On top it says "How many celebrities can you name?". I only recognized Sandy Koufax. I apologize with the photo. I didn't have my camera at that moment.
At the bottom of the poster it gave you the names of the celebrities.
"Golf amongst celebrities. Palm Springs has long been a favorite golf spot of celebrities. Left to right - Don Adams, Sandy Koufax, Donna Douglas, Pat Boone, Andy Williams. Circa 1964. The men in the picture are Don Adams, who played Maxwell Smart in the TV show, and singers Andy Williams and Pat Boone.
Hi Steve,
Correct. But I Actually wrote the answer in the post... :)

I love those old pictures- in the sixties, Koufax and Drysdale were part of the "Hollywood culture" and it was a lot different then than it is now. Thanks so much for sharing it
@ Mike - You're welcome! :)
Give the answer and take away the thrill of answering the question? I think the caption is wrong on Donna Douglas, however. She was of Elly May fame on the old ``Beverly Hillbillies'' show and that doesn't look like her. I actually sat next to her on a flight about eight years ago returning from a Dodgers trip. She looked pretty much the same. The strangest part was, she had sat next to Gordon Verrell, then the Long Beach Press-Telegram's Dodger writer, on a flight a few years earlier.
@ Steve - You won't believe this but someone on Facebook told me the same thing about Donna Douglas. He says it's not her and even asked his parents. They said it's not her.
I don't know...but that's what the caption said. I swear! :)
I think it might be Ruta Lee- not sure, a couple things, Koufax and her actually did a western series together called "Shotgun Slade" He was a guest star and she was semi-regular. It ended in 61 I think which might fit together. Just a thought
I saw this picture when I was in PS a month ago; it's been in the window of this empty storefront for a couple of years. Note how well Sandy is dressed--even for a golf tournament! How much more elegant, on the field and off, can a professional athlete be than Sandy Koufax? I agree with Mike; LA athletes amid the Hollywood scene made for a classier atmosphere. Roberto, as a lifelong Dodger fan I just now came across your blog. It's great! I will visit reguarly.
It's not Donna Douglas. Try another 60's beauty (my mind is saying Diane something), but it's not Ellie Mae.
Maybe Diane McBain. ?
Your website is terribly informative and your articles are wonderful.Website
