Upcoming Series vs Pirates - USC Night, Star Wars, Hello Kitty, Viva Los Dodgers

What's going on at Dodger Stadium for the upcoming series against the Pittsburgh Pirates?

Thursday September 15 - 7:10 p.m.

Thursday is USC Night and fans at the game will receive Cardinal and Gold L.A. Caps, courtesy of USC University Hospital. Pre-game ceremonies will be USC-themed and USC University Hospital patients will take the field with the players at the start of the game. In addition, Commanding Officer, NROTC Los Angeles Consortium at USC Marine Colonel Alvah E. Ingersoll III will be recognized as the Veteran of the Game.

Friday September 16 - 7:10 p.m.

Star Wars Night returns to Dodger Stadium as the Dodgers celebrate the release of Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Blu-ray. In honor of the legendary film series, fans who purchase a special ticket package available only on www.dodgers.com/StarWars will receive a ticket to the All-You-Can-Eat Pavilion, a limited edition Star Wars t-shirt featuring Darth Vader and in-seat visits from classic Star Wars characters. In addition, fans will have the opportunity to pose for pictures with their favorite Star Wars characters before the game in Autograph Alley and the characters will visit the right field pavilion for the first few innings of the game. Friday Night Fireworks, presented by Pizza Hut, will be set to Star Wars music.

Fans who purchased special Hello Kitty tickets online will receive a limited edition Hello Kitty plush dressed in Dodger gear on September 16, 17 and 18. Fans must bring their vouchers to the stadium during one of those three games to pick up their Hello Kitty plush.

Friday is also Medal of Valor Night and the Los Angeles Police and Sherriff’s Department’s Medal of Valor award winners will be honored on the field before the game. LAPD Chief Charlie Beck and LASD Assistant Sheriff Marvin Cavanaugh will throw out a ceremonial first pitch, the LASD will present the colors and an LAPD helicopter will fly over the stadium at the start of the game. Women and children from St. Anne’s in Silverlake, a social service agency committed to developing and sustaining programs that address the special needs of at-risk, pregnant and/or parenting young women, children and families, will attend Friday’s game as guests of the Dodger Wives. The Dodger Wives will make a significant donation of household goods and baby products to St. Anne’s later in the homestand. For more information about St. Anne’s visit www.stannes.org.

Friday is also Singles Night and fans who purchase tickets in the Singles Night section through www.dodgers.com/singles can participate in the pregame singles party in Lot B and will receive a Dodgers cap and a free beverage.

A group from PADRES Contra el Cáncer will meet with Dodger broadcaster Fernando Valenzuela before the game as part of the Los Amigos de Fernando program. Valenzuela will sign autographs for the group and they will watch batting practice from the field, enjoy the game and receive program t-shirts. PADRES Contra el Cáncer is the only Latino organization in the United States that promotes a comprehensive understanding of childhood cancer and other blood disorders as well as effective methods for their treatment. The organization has assisted more than 3,200 families and 17,000 extended family members residing in Southern California.

Saturday September 17 - 7:10 p.m.

La Gran Fiesta Viva Los Dodgers presented By Coca-Cola, Hyundai and Time Warner Cable will take place from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. in Lot 6 before Saturday’s game. Grammy Award-winner Lupillo Rivera, Nortec Collective presents Bostich + Fussible, 3Ball MTY, DJ Raul Campos of KCRW and Very Be Careful will perform and Hello Kitty and her friends My Melody®, Keroppi® and Chococat® will make a special appearance from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. to meet and greet fans. Longtime Dodger employee Billy Hunter will throw out a ceremonial first pitch. This season is Hunter’s 42nd working for the Dodgers and he is currently the team’s Vice President, Ticket Operations.

Saturday is the 10th Annual Scout Egg Drop at Dodger Stadium and Boy Scouts from around Southern California will participate in their annual egg drop event before the game. Scouts will drop their eggs from the Reserve level of Dodger Stadium.

Sunday September 18 - 1:10 p.m.

Sunday is Fan Appreciation Day and fans at the game will have the chance to win prizes all game long. Prizes will include a 2011 Hyundai Elantra, a Sharp Flat Screen HD Television and more.

Fans at the game will receive a Hello Kitty Dodger-themed crown and Hello Kitty and friends will take part in the ceremonial first pitch as well as the singing of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” during the seventh inning stretch.

The Long Haul Bombers Stadium Power Tour will host its finals at Dodger Stadium before Sunday’s game. Six softball home run hitters will stage a home run derby on the field to determine the winner.

Jr. Dodger Broadcasters will call the game from the Vin Scully Press Box. Fans can listen to the Jr. Dodgers Broadcast at www.dodgers.com/jrdodgers.

Following the game, children age 14 and under can participate in Kids Run the Bases.
