Moon signs the Dodger seat

I'm so behind in posts.

As you know, I met Wally Moon last week at Dodger Stadium for his book signing. {linked here} I wanted to take my Dodger seat that day so Moon can sign it. I didn't take it for fear that security would tell me I can't bring that inside. I've done it before without any problems but since Dodger Stadium security has changed this year, I didn't want to take a chance.

Luckily, Moon had several book signings around the O.C./L.A. area. I had the opportunity to go to his Thursday night appearance at "El Cholo Cafe" in Pasadena. He was scheduled to sign from 6/8pm.

I arrived at 6:30pm and no one was there. I didn't want to buy his book since I already did. How do I approach Moon and tell him "Hey Wally, not buying the book, just sign this"?

I sat still for about 20 minutes trying to figure out a way how to do this. I didn't want to offend the man. I had also brought the book that he had signed two days earlier. My idea was to tell him that I already bought the book so there was no need to get an extra one but I did want him to sign this seat.

When I saw a customer approaching his table and buying a book, I got up and started walking towards Moon. I waited behind the customer and one of Moon's PR people noticed my Dodger seat and pointed at me with his finger as if saying "You, come here". I was scared.

He says, "Amazing seat, how long you've been working on it?".

I told him since December, 2008. I tell him my little story that I don't want to buy a book (I show him the book so he can know that I already bought it) and that I'm just looking if Moon is nice enough to sign this seat. To my surprise he says "Of course Moon will do that for you!".  He also noticed that Moon didn't write my name on the book. He just wrote "Best Wishes, Wally Moon". He told Moon to write my name on the book. I didn't mind at all.

And me getting scared for nothing.

Thank you Wally Moon!

The seat currently has 17 signatures. I'm only interested in getting retired Dodgers that I think made a impact with the Dodgers.

Click here to view a photo set and see what Dodgers have signed this seat. Manny Mota signed this seat but I won't have a picture. It's a long story.

That's a great story. Mr. Moon is one of the nicest people I've met.

BTW, your seat looks amazing!
