DODGER BROADCAST TEAM TO RETURN IN 2012

LOS ANGELES – The Dodgers’ eight-man broadcast team, baseball’s best year in and year out, which is led by Hall of Famers Vin Scully and Jaime Jarrín, will all return to the booths in 2012, the club announced today.

Scully, who will enter an unprecedented 63rd season in the booth and Jarrín, who will begin his 54th season, each announced their return over the weekend.

Rick Monday will be entering his 27th season with the Dodger organization and 19th as a broadcaster. The former All-Star outfielder and World Series champion has been honored recently by the Southern California Sports Broadcasters Association as the top Radio Color Commentator and that organization inducted him into its Hall of Fame in 2008. Monday handles analysis on KABC 790 for all home and road games.

Next season will be Fernando Valenzuela’s 21st with the organization and ninth behind the mic. The legendary left-hander was recently named the Foreign Language Broadcaster of the Year for the second time by the Southern California Sports Broadcasters Association. A Mexico native, Valenzuela’s impact on the game of baseball transcends his All-Star numbers on the field. He provides analysis alongside Jarrín and Pepe Yñiguez for all Dodger home games and road games against the National League West.

Yñiguez will begin his 14th full season alongside Jarrín and 15th overall with the Dodgers. While the majority of his games are on Univision Radio (KTNQ 1020) as the play-by-play announcer, Yñiguez also calls select games alongside legendary coach Manny Mota for the PRIME TICKET television broadcasts.

Charley Steiner will be entering his eighth season as a play-by-play announcer for the Dodgers in 2012. A four-time Emmy Award winner, he recently delivered the commencement speech at his alma mater, Bradley University, where he is a member of the school’s Sports Hall of Fame. The New York native calls every game on KABC 790 alongside Monday.

Steve Lyons is returning for his eighth season as part of the Dodger broadcast team. He calls all road games outside the NL West and co-hosts the Dodgers’ pre- and post-game shows on PRIME TICKET. A three-time Emmy Award winner and former Major League outfielder, Lyons provides analysis alongside Eric Collins.

Collins returns for his fourth season calling play-by-play on road games outside of the National League West. Recently named as one of the lead announcers for the Big Ten Network, Collins also has worked as a broadcaster for ESPN and NBC during the 2008 Olympic Games. He works alongside Lyons and contributes to the pre-game shows on KCAL and PRIME TICKET.
