I heard this....Dodgers talking to Sofia Vergara throwing the first pitch at last years Opening Day.

I guess Sandy Koufax was not available.

I heard that the Dodgers are talking to Sofia Vergara.

They want Vergara to throw the first pitch at Dodger Stadium during the Dodgers/Giants opening series. No word yet if it's Opening Day or any of the other three games.

I don't know who makes these decisions. I seriously doubt Frank McCourt is worried about who is throwing out the first pitch and he just lets his people make the plans.

But please, please, please, please, let's not do this during Opening Day. Why is it so hard to call a Dodger legend and ask him to do the honor.

2011 marks the 30th anniversary of the Dodgers winning the 1981 World Series. Let's get Fernando Valenzuela or '81 World Series MVP Trio of Pedro Guerrero, Steve Yeager and Ron Cey to throw out the first pitch? Or how about Davey Lopes since he's back with the Dodgers!?

Opening Day is a special event and in my opinion it's not correct in having a Hollywood type to throw out the first pitch. I don't mind if it happens during the other 80 games. But Opening Day?

No way.

The Dodgers had Black Eyed Peas singer (pictured above) throw out the first pitch at last year's Opening Day. Another mistake. Nothing against I'm sure he's a nice dude but why?

I don't know, maybe I'm being too sensitive.

Fernando for Opening Day! Sofia for any other game!

I guess you know Vergara from her ABC t.v. show "Modern Family". But I remember her from a Spanish t.v. tourist show called "Fuera de Serie" on Univision back in the 90's.

How did Al Bundy end up with Sofia? :)
