The Dodgers are one of a couple of teams that are interested in Japanese Pitcher Hisanori Takahashi.
Jason Repko and Xavier Paul, please report to Albuquerque now. The Dodgers have different plans. You see, Joe Torre and Ned Colletti like veteran players. It comes to no surprise that they are on the verge in signing Reed Johnson to become their fourth outfielder and backup CF.

A college baseball double-header will feature Vanderbilt, Oklahoma State, USC and UCLA on February 28
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Dodgers Dream Foundation will celebrate the return of baseball to Dodger Stadium by hosting the inaugural Dodgertown Classic on Sunday, February 28. The Vanderbilt and Oklahoma State baseball teams will play at Dodger Stadium at 10:00 a.m., followed by USC and UCLA at 2:00 p.m. All four teams are annually recognized as some of the best in college baseball and both games will count towards NCAA baseball standings.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Dodgers Dream Foundation to help build Dodgers Dreamfields for children. The Dodgers Dream Foundation will also extend invitations to the Dodgertown Classic to local children and families and provide an interactive forum for children and tournament participants.
Tickets for the event will cost $5 and can be purchased in advance at www.dodgers.com/classic and in person at USC and UCLA campus box offices. Day of game tickets can be purchased at Dodger Stadium for $10. Each ticket will permit access to both of the day’s games. There will be no charge for parking at Dodger Stadium for the event.
Fans that purchase tickets for the Dodgertown Classic at www.dodgers.com/classic have the option to purchase ticket packages that include a USC-themed Night on April 29 or a UCLA-themed Night on April 30. The first 20,000 fans at those games will receive LA-logo hats in USC or UCLA colors, respectively.
Last season, the Dodgers hosted USC and UCLA-themed nights in their My Town section. Dodgertown, USC Night on September 14 sold out last season and the evening’s highlights included The Spirit of Troy USC Marching Band performing the National Anthem and God Bless America and band director Dr. Arthur Bartner throwing out a ceremonial first pitch.
Dodgertown, UCLA Night took place on September 20 and 94% of the section sold out. Earlier in the season the Dodgers honored UCLA when Men’s Basketball Coach Ben Howland threw out a ceremonial first pitch, a UCLA ROTC color guard presented the colors and performed the National Anthem and a UCLA student sang God Bless America.

My wife had to buy some school supplies over at Target last night and since I'm a good guy, I went along. Oh wait, it's Target, where they sell Topps Baseball packs. I forgot about that. Ha!

MLB Series 26 of McFarlane Toys has a preview on their site. It will be released for May 2010. The Bad news is that there is not one Dodgers player on this series.

The next one is a beauty. It's Dizzy Dean. Part of a series called "Foul Out" This is No. 12 in a series of 45 This card is small compared to the others. Does anyone have info on this series ?
Don't tell Jonathan Broxton, but Matt Stairs is now with the Padres {linked here}
Not a great picture. It was taken from my cell phone last Friday. This is a certificate to honor the game that the Dodgers had against the Red Sox at the L.A. Coliseum a couple of years ago. I was at the game. I wish the Dodgers would do it again but I'm guessing it won't happen again. If you remember, proceeds from that game went to Think Cure {linked here}
There are so many Players that I have fond memories from my Childhood. I would like to share my memories with you. Most of them weren't popular players. Not the big name. Just regular players playing a child's game.
It's a big day for Football fans.Mark Sanchez is hoping lightning strikes twice.
The New York Jets' rookie quarterback showed up at his news conference Friday wearing a black T-shirt with the word "Wonderboy" printed across the chest, complete with a silver lightning bolt.
"Yep, Roy Hobbs," Sanchez said with a big smile.
Hobbs, of course, is the power-hitting character played by Robert Redford in the 1984 film, "The Natural." The movie was based on Bernard Malamud's 1952 novel of the same name in which Hobbs carves his beloved bat, "Wonderboy," out of a tree that was split in half by a lightning bolt.
"I've had it for a while," Sanchez said. "I'm wearing everything that could bring a little something good."
That shirt looks familiar.
Bobby Bragan played a couple of seasons with the Brooklyn Dodgers in the 1940's. He was part of a group that refused to play with Jackie Robinson but later realized his mistake.

DODGERS TO MAKE HISTORICAL TRIP TO TAIWAN THIS MARCH
Team to Play Two Games against a CPBL Team in Taipei
and Kaohsiung on March 13 and 14
The Los Angeles Dodgers will travel to Taiwan and play two games against a team from the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) on March 13 and 14, MLB and the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) announced today in Taipei. This will be the Dodgers second trip to Taiwan. They became the first Major League team to play in Taiwan in 1993 when they competed against a team of CPBL All-Stars.
The games will mark the third time since 2008 that a Major League team has traveled to Asia. In March 2008, the Dodgers and San Diego Padres played two Spring Training games in Beijing, the first-ever MLB games played in China. Later that month, the Boston Red Sox and Oakland A’s opened the 2008 MLB regular season with a two-game series in Tokyo, Japan.
The two-game set in Taiwan will not be part of the 2010 MLB Spring Training Schedule.

“I would like to thank the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Major League Baseball Players Association and the Chinese Professional Baseball League for making this historic event possible,” said Baseball Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig. “Major League Baseball is committed to the continued international growth of our game, and we are excited to have the opportunity to bring these games to the great fans in Taiwan.”
“On behalf of all Major League players, I want to thank everyone involved in the effort for the opportunity to bring Major League baseball to the people of Taiwan,” said MLBPA Executive Director, Michael Weiner. “The Dodgers players look forward to playing before some of the world’s greatest baseball fans. The MLBPA is pleased to be working with the Chinese Professional Baseball League and Major League Baseball in this effort to expand the world-wide popularity of the game we all love.”
"We're very excited to return to Taiwan and continue to strengthen the relationships that date back to the 1980s," said Dodger Owner Frank McCourt. "The Dodgers believe wholeheartedly in the development of the game of baseball internationally and we have many fans in Taiwan who we look forward to seeing in March."
Following the historic Dodger game versus the CPBL all-stars in 1993, the club further developed their partnerships in Taiwan. In 1996, The Dodgers formed a working agreement with the Sinon Bulls of the CPBL and the Bulls became the first Taiwanese team to train in Latin America when they visited the Dodgers’ facility in the Dominican Republic, Campo Las Palmas, in 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2003.
The Dodgers were the first MLB club to sign a Taiwanese high school player, pitcher Hong-Chih Kuo in 2000. On September 9, 2002, Chin-Feng Chen became the first Taiwan-born player in the Majors and Kuo became the fourth in 2005. Of the six Taiwanese players to appear in the Major Leagues, four have played for the Dodgers.

There is talk about a new Patch on the Dodgers Jersey. {linked here} One thing is certain, the Dodgers will have new Batting Practice Hats.
I don't have a update from the Dodgers on this Patch. {linked here} But I got a e-mail from a reader, Chuy, who had this to say:
The Dodgers and Vicente Padilla agreed to a one year contract worth up to $ 5 million. I'm not complaining. It's only for one year. He needs to prove himself again and try to get a bigger contract next year. The Dodgers are not wasting a lot of cash here. It's a good deal. Let's just say that I prefer this than what the Angels did last night. Their deal with Joel Pineiro for two years, $ 16 million is a bit crazy. Glad the Dodgers didn't touch that. Now let's hope that Padilla stays away from any guns.
