Will Dodgers/Giants Rivalry Rejuvenate?

Pablo "Panda" Sandoval vs Russell "I might not be here next year" Martin

Ever since Tommy Lasorda retired, the Dodgers/Giants rivalry has been boring. No excitement. It's rare when both teams are in the pennant race.

Giants winning the World Series last night might be a good thing for this rivalry. I'll be honest with you, I don't even care about this rivalry. It's nothing like the rivalry of the 50's and 60's.

You see the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox fighting for the division title every single year since the last decade. It has brought excitement to that rivalry. The Red Sox were never able to win a World Series for a while. They finally won it in 2004 and again in 2007. That rivalry gets national attention. You see more Yankees/Red Sox games on ESPN.

How about if the Dodgers and Giants fight for the West title in the next decade? Wouldn't that be good for Baseball and the west coast?

It might even generate more attention among the casual fans. The Giants coming to Dodger Stadium might mean something now!

But first, the Dodgers have to improve the roster. Which is another topic for another day.
