Kemp will not be traded to the Nationals. Dodgers interested in Uribe

Why? Because the Washington Nationals have hired Bob Schaefer to be a special assistant to General Manager Mike Rizzo. {linked here}

The Nationals announced the addition of Bob Schaefer to their front office as a special assistant to General Manager Mike Rizzo. Schaefer has worked in baseball as a coach or front-office official for 30 years, most recently a three-year stint under Joe Torre as the Dodgers' bench coach.

As you recall, Matt Kemp's benching linked to argument with Schaefer. {linked here}

The Dodgers are interested in Juan Uribe and start him at 2nd. {Dodgers.com}

Continuing their aggressive offseason renovation, the Dodgers now are targeting free-agent infielder Juan Uribe, whose clutch production helped the division-rival Giants win the World Series.

The addition of Uribe not only would weaken San Francisco but provide the Dodgers with a needed veteran power bat for the middle of the lineup. He most likely would become the starting second baseman and trigger the non-tendering of Ryan Theriot, who was acquired from the Cubs with Ted Lilly and had a solid August but tailed off in September.

Uribe didn't tail off when it mattered -- specifically, the Giants' championship run -- driving in nine runs with only six hits in the postseason.

I rather have Uribe than Ryan Theriot. I'm not a fan of Uribe's OBP. Around .300 the last two years. But he has some pop as he smashed 24 bombs for the World Series champions Giants. Theriot has zero power and gets on base as much as Uribe. Give me Uribe on a one year deal and start him at 2nd. I wouldn't be interested if it's longer than a one year deal. I know you can move him to third base after 2011 since Casey Blake has one year left on his contract but I rather go with a one year deal if it's possible.

I'm being honest, anyone but Theriot. I'm just not a fan. He's going to be 31 and hasn't done much but steal a few bases.
