Monasterios to pitch in the Winter Leagues

We're in the middle of August? That sure went by quickly. The winter leagues are starting to take shape. This is the time where officials from Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Venezuela and Mexico call MLB teams to ask permission on certain players to participate in the winter leagues.

Dodgers relief pitcher, Carlos Monasterios will be pitching this winter again for the Bravos de Margarita in Venezuela.

According to this Venezuelan newspaper {linked here}, the Dodgers gave permission for Monasterios and triple-a pitcher Alberto Bastardo to play for the Bravos.

According to the report, there's also a good chance that Ronald Belisario joins them. Opening Day for the Bravos is October 12. That doesn't mean that they will join them in October. Usually, MLB players joins their winter teams after October.

Monasterios is having a surprising nice year for the Dodgers and pitching in the winter is only going to help him.
