Dodgers / El Monte Staples Shopping Spree

Dodgers to the rescue!

Earlier today, current Dodger Jay Gibbons and former Dodger Rudy Law took disadvantage children on a back-to-school shopping spree at the Staples in El Monte. Twenty disadvantaged youth from the El Monte City School District received $100 apiece courtesy of the Los Angeles Dodgers Dream Foundation and Staples.

It was a great event. These are kids that might not have the chance to spend 100 bucks for school supplies.They bought backpacks, pencils, pens, paper, notebooks, calculators and other school items.

Kids were happy. Group shot with Law and Gibbons

And the kids went home happy.

Good job from the Dodgers and Staples for providing smiles to all these kids! I was checking some statistics from the El Monte School District and noticed that on average, about 45% of students are economically disadvantaged. {linked here}

I did see Dodgers  photographer Jon SooHoo. I'm sure he will be posting pictures later on their website. Much better than mine, that's for sure :)

Short video. That's all. :)
