THINKCURE! Weekend

Great stuff here. Check it out!

THINKCURE! WEEKEND STARTS TOMORROW

Third annual event includes celebrity guests, player contributions and numerous ways for fans to donate

LOS ANGELES – The third annual ThinkCure! Weekend begins tomorrow morning, with programming starting at 6:00 a.m. on KABC 790 a.m. Coverage will continue throughout the weekend on Dodger broadcast partner stations PRIME TICKET, KABC 790 AM, KLOS 95.5 FM, KHJ 930 AM and KCAL 9 and will conclude after Saturday’s game on PRIME TICKET’s post-game Dodgers Live! and post-game Dodger Talk on KABC. Fans can give to ThinkCure! Weekend at any time online at www.dodgers.com/thinkcureweekend and www.thinkcure.org, by calling (866) 554-CURE or by texting CURE to 50555 to make a $10 donation through their mobile phone bill. Last year’s ThinkCure! Weekend raised more than $240,000.

Numerous Dodger players, coaches, staff and their families have committed their time to ThinkCure! Weekend, including Frank McCourt, Vin Scully, Jaime Jarrín, Ned Colletti, Joe Torre, Don Mattingly, Hiroki Kuroda, Andre Ethier, Matt Kemp, Jamey Carroll, A.J. Ellis, Reed Johnson, Jeff Weaver, Rick Monday and Charley Steiner. Dodger broadcaster Fernando Valenzuela will take photos with fans for a donation to ThinkCure! in the first base suite concourse on Friday night in the eighth inning and former Dodgers Ron Cey, Steve Garvey and Bill Russell, three of the Dodger infield quartet of the ‘80s, will take photos with fans in the suite concourse from 5:15 - 6:15 p.m. on Saturday night.

Six blue signs with red ThinkCure! exclamation points will be located beyond the outfield walls at Friday and Saturday’s games in home run territory. If any Dodger or Angel player hits an exclamation point sign during either game, ThinkCure! will receive a $10,000 donation.

All ushers, ticket takers and venders will be dressed in ThinkCure! attire this weekend and fans will have the opportunity to add $1 to their food or drink order at every concession stand thanks to Levy Restaurants. In addition, fans who donate $100 or more at merchandise stands around the stadium will receive ThinkCure! jerseys.

In honor of ThinkCure! Weekend, 25 doctors and researchers engaged in the fight against cancer will throw out the ceremonial first pitch before Friday’s game. That night, R&B singer Brian McKnight will perform the National Anthem and God Bless America, actress Alyssa Milano will announce “It’s time for Dodger baseball!” at the start of the game and patients from ThinkCure! partner hospitals City of Hope and Childrens Hospital Los Angeles will take the field with the players and act as the honorary bat kids. During the fifth inning break of Friday’s game, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne will lead the crowd to “scream for a cure” in an attempt to set the Guinness World Record for the longest and loudest scream.

Saturday night’s ThinkCure! festivities will include an announcement about ThinkCure!’s upcoming, one-of-a-kind community event as well as last year’s ThinkCure! auction winner, Hannah Nadel, announcing “It’s time for Dodger baseball!” at the start of the game.

The Think Blue sign outside of the stadium has been chanced to read ThinkCure! this week and the ThinkCure! logo will also be painted on the field.

Fans can also give to ThinkCure! through an online auction including several once-in-a-lifetime Dodger experiences, autographed Dodger items, memorabilia and experiences all over Los Angeles. Fans can bid on auction items at www.dodgers.com/thinkcureweekend and the auction ends on Monday, June 14.

ThinkCure! is an innovative, community-based non-profit that accelerates collaborative research to cure cancers. It was launched in July 2007 by the Los Angeles Dodgers, the McCourt family, City of Hope and Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.
