Now batting cleanup, Vladimir Shpunt !

This is not a joke...

Unbelievable story from Bill Shaikin of the L.A. Times. I had to read it three times because I couldn't believe the things I was reading.

Frank and Jamie McCourt quietly hired a Russian emigre who calls himself a scientist and healer to 'think blue' and channel his thoughts toward the team's success as he watched them play on TV.

You're kidding me, right?

Vladimir Shpunt, 71, lived most of his life in Russia. He has three degrees in physics and a letter of reference from a Nobel Prize winner.

He knows next to nothing about baseball.

Interesting...

Frank and Jamie McCourt paid him to help the team win by sending positive energy over great distances.

Shpunt says he is a scientist and a healer, not a magician. His method could not guarantee the Dodgers would win, he says, but it could make a difference.

How much did he get paid?

Bert Fields, an attorney for Jamie, said the Dodgers paid Shpunt a stipend, plus a bonus of "certainly six figures and even higher" depending on whether the Dodgers won the National League West title and how far the team advanced in the playoffs.

I can't believe what I just read.

Freakin' weird. Whatever it takes to win I guess.

You know you have too much money when .... you hire some Russian mystic to send positive thoughts to the opposite side of the globe so that some sports team that the Russian has never heard of win a sport that he has never seen being played nor understand. The McCourts just need to give all their money to charity, because they don't deserve to spend it this way.

Thump, thump thump, What is that noise? It's Walter O Malley rolling in his grave! Oh, let's go try to talk to him and find out what he thinks....no wait, I know, let's go hire some guy named Vlad to communicate with him, maybe he can tell us through Vlad what the Dodgers should do to stay in first place and win the NL division this year......

I'm sorry, but if the McCourts want to hire some guy to heal their marriage aura or personal issues with money from their own paychecks, that's fine. But to hire some guy on the Dodgers payroll to sit in a room IN BOSTON. (I won't even start my rant on that fact) and watch the Dodgers on TV to give them blue thoughts, well, that is insane.

Obviously, the Dodgers don't need this guy to win. They win because they are the best and work hard. That's what makes a winning team. Not some heebie jeebie man. Good grief....

sorry for venting but I feel better!

@ Michelle - It's okay... I know how you feel. I couldn't believe what I was reading last night. Might as well pay me. I'll "Think Blue" all day!

Here is a pearl for you. McCourt use of V was not as crazy as you may think. However V is a fraud in this area. We have tested those who actually claim they are savants with this kind of expertise and V has no expertise at all. He is a brlliant man and I only say fraud because he accepted money for something he knows he cannot affect. We know who the real savants are and yes they are of special expertise. Actually, McCourt had a chance to befriend one in west coast. I guess he decided this V guy was a better fit. Probably because of his Boston ties. Too bad for McCourt and Good for Charie Manual. Charlie befriended and never knew because true savants work in areas of more concern than baseball, yet it seems to be a passion for one we know. And McCourt's know exactully who I am talking about. The good news is V cannot help ata all, the bad news the real savant seems to have been working aginst Dodgers and know he knows why. You see real savants know fraud and evil very well. I am not saying McCourts are evil, just wanta be thieves of the unknown for their selfish advantage. The real savant enjoys baseball and has helped win championships but is hired for other reasons other than selfish motives. Ask Manual, LaRussa, Dent, Autry, Francona ect.... Think Dodgers. The good news is it never to late to befriend but my guess is McCourt is not strong enough to do so especially after it seems so many are criticizing him. But that is human nature my friends. And McCourt is not the first to not befriend the true savants. The SF Giants blew it bigtime. They would have four rings by now but their selfish leadership cost them the joy. And the goofy thing is the announcers have suggested bringing back and hiring many times and uppermanagement does not understand. So dont blame McCourt for effrot blame him for bad judgement on hire.

To phil jackson,

You have more inspiration left for your players. More than you may think. Kobe, Gasol, Bynum, Artest, Odom, Farmar, Brown, Vujacic, Mbenga, Morrison, Walton. Oh yea and one that has had light of goodness on for many years. Fisher. He defines Gods wishes of leading for his son Jesus by understanding freedom of religon, which means freedom of no religon and leading the light by example, not by demanding, and those around him must now what is meant by this and Artest may not currently know but there is a light on him given by being touched by Fisher. And yes , Phil, Jesus Traveled to lands where you are inspired as well. He is fine with you staying true to your spiritual beliefs. I came to LA area a couple of years ago and this team has more greatness in them. Thanks for the joy in watching those truely inspired by God. And those with the team just learning might want to stay around for a few years and be a part of something they cannot receive anywhere else. Lakerland is inspired by more than humans, because of the humans currently involved. Phil. Stay, the ride is not over. I worked for tour owners close friend and he never knew, but your owner may want to thank the laker golf cart in LaQuinta. A good soul but not a believer, that is maybe until now. Congrats. Winning is not something that all can achieve, however, love is. That is what brings the tears, both of happiness and sorrow. Talent alone at the highest level is never enough unless all competitors are of less. Boston was not of less, and I know I was very close to them in 2008, but ownership took advantage. Players and Coaches are of special light as well, but ownership thought differently of the need of love.
