Is it a big risk to wear a Dodger hat at Yankee Stadium?

Before heading to Boston to catch the Dodgers at Fenway Park, I'll be spending a couple days in New York. We'll be doing the tourist stuff and of course, I need to check out the new Yankee Stadium. I never got to see the old one so I have to see this one.

The Philadelphia Phillies will be in town. We will be going tomorrow to catch Game 2 of this World Series rematch. Should be fun.

Quick question...

How big of a risk will I be in if I wear a Dodger hat to the game? I'm a small guy and I don't have any karate moves so I can't really defend myself :)

I'd like to read your opinions if you've been to Yankee Stadium before.

I've taken my Dodger hat to Angel Stadium, AT&T Park, Petco Park, etc, and I've never encountered a problem.

I'm wearing it in Boston. Just curious about Yankee Stadium. I might get attacked from both Yankees and Phillies fans... :)

If you have been to a Dodger/Giant game in SF and wore your Dodger stuff going to Yankee Stadium will be a walk in the park..Same goes for Boston (some of the nicest fans around). I was at both places last October and was wearing my Dodger gear and nothing happened, I did get some hecklers but nothing like when I go see the Dodgers in SF!!!

I don't know. We were treated ok at AT&T wearing Dodger gear (and at Petco too but there were as many Dodgers fans there as Padres fans). This weekend at Fenway, we are planning to wear our Dodger gear on Saturday and Sunday when we're sitting in the State Street Pavilion, but on Friday when we're in the bleachers I don't think we're going to risk it. I don't want any stupid distractions.

I've worn Mariners stuff to Yankee Stadium. No problems from the fans. They were actually fairly welcoming. Just don't have Red Sox gear there and you're fine.

Roberto, I wore full Dodger uniform - away jersey and hat at the former Yankee stadium and was only heckled once. Go for it! NY respects the Blue. They may not root for us but they respect us.

Never been there but I'd be rather cautious! Especially cause the Dodgers aren't even playing. I don't know about you but I find it rather annoying when people where Giants stuff at Dodger stadium when they are playing the Rockies...in other words, there team isn't even playing. I mean I love that you support your team, but there's kind of no point. It's up to you but if it were me, I would just avoid any trouble. Oh, and have fun in NY/Boston!

As a matter of fact when I was cruising around time square I was wearing a Brooklyn dodger hat and was stopped by a senior citizen who told me that was a "Classic" cap and I "better take care of it".

Looking back, I think he thought it was an original from the 50's...

You'll be fine man. I live in Boston and will be going to all three games this weekend. The bigger question is if the Lakers lose, then everybody wearing anything LA will be getting an earful from the fans.

yea the lakers losing we and may be the bigger issue at boston. im gonna take a laker shirt if they win and talk all the smack i want, even though im not really a big laker/basketball fan

Hey! Went to two Phillies game and one Yankee game two years ago in full Dodger regalia. The Phillies games were against the Dodgers. Of course there were some heckles in Philly, but no problems in New York at all. My worst experiences still reside from my visits to San Diego. Have fun!

You'll probably get a few comments, but shouldn't be a problem. Especially since there are still a lot of Dodger fans here from the Brooklyn days.

I would be wary of wearing it if you're sitting in the bleachers though. You'll get it taken and thrown into the nearest urinal...

well i've never been to NY in person, but I dont think it matters

I think the way Yankee fans look at the Dodgers is different than how Dodger fans look at the Yankees.

IMO, Dodger fans hate the Yankees for the same reasons everyone else in baseball does. They're just the evil empire.

I think Yankee fans probably laugh at the Dodgers. I dont think they care

luckily you're going before we sweep them next week. thats when you'd be vulnerable :)

Lets see......

How would you feel if you are at a dodgers vs Yankee game and A "fan" attends a game decked out in Phillies Gear??? I can't stand it when fans that don't belong to any team that is playing wear there gear.
What do you think???

We made a pilgrimage to see Shea stadium, the old Yankee stadium and Fenway park over the course of a long weekend.

Mets fans were allright - no problems there. Yankees fans were indifferent to my Cubbie blue but nice enough - some Yankee fans seemed slightly annoyed by my need to document EVERYTHING with my camera. The Red Sox fans were super friendly and seemingly well versed in Cubs' lore - take the Fenway tour if you can (I guess tickets sell out sometimes). You'll love the funny Sox/Yankees rivalry merchandise they sell. My favorite shirt slogan: JETER DRINKS WINE COOLERS!

I've been to other stadium and like a true fan i wore my dodger blue hat and t-shirt! I say no matter what you have to represent Dodger Blue and your Dodger love. Besides I think Dodger fans are as rowdy as they come...GO DODGERS!!!

You'll be fine in most places (besides Big Phone Park). It's not really the gear but the behavior that turns fans against visiting supporters. Like when some frat boy p.o.s. wearing Jints gear shows up at Chavez Ravine and the first time Jints draw a walk or something small like that, the fan stands up and faces the rest of the crowd and tugs on his jersey in a taunting manner. I don't endorse violence, but I'm also not entirely dissatisfied to see the guy who does that get a beatdown. For being a douche more than anything else.

And for supporting Jints.
