Ely Returns to Chicago

Dodgers vs Cubs

11:20 am

Another game that I won't be able to watch. I'm in a cave at the moment. I'll be following Gameday.

John Ely pitches!

Rafael Furcal is out. I guess they got tired watching him make errors.

Ramon Ortiz DFA, Justin Miller called up. Via Dylan Hernandez.

Read this note by Michael Becker about Ely and his dad. He lives in Chicago but the dad won't be going to Wrigley Field.

The father of John Ely will not see his son pitch in person today against the Cubs out of loyalty to his beloved White Sox.

"He refuses to come to Wrigley Field," John Ely said. "I don't blame him."

Game Notes:

THE NATIVE SON – Dodger starter and Harvey, IL native John Ely will look to win his fourth straight contest this afternoon. Harvey is roughly 20 miles from Wrigley Field, although Ely grew up rooting for the White Sox and pitched in their system until the December 2009 trade that brought him to the Dodgers. The right-handed rookie has gone at least 6.0 innings in each of his five starts and has an eye-popping strikeout to walk ratio of 28-to-3.

►Ely is expecting many friends and family at the game, including his Mom, who will be wired for sound by the Dodger Media Network.
