I'm a kid again

I just opened two packs of Topps Series One. I already knew what to expect since there are many cards showing up all over the web. The design for the regular cards are simple. Nothing great. But the inserts are really cool.

I shot pictures of a couple of cards. Just so you can get a idea. Three cards from the regular set. Jon Garland, Joe Mauer and Josh Hamilton.

This one is a insert card. Justin Upton. A Turkey Red Card. This set looks nice. I like the background. The next one is a beauty. It's Dizzy Dean. Part of a series called "Foul Out" This is No. 12 in a series of 45 This card is small compared to the others. Does anyone have info on this series ?

The Red Back mini set is a Target Exlusive. 1 in every 3 or 4 packs I think. Mostly Hall of Famer's and current Super Stars. My favorite set is "The Cards Your Mom Threw Out" reprints and the Million Card Giveaway, you get a little redemption card every 4 packs or so with a code that you can enter starting on February 15th and it will tell you what card of the MILLION they are giving away that you won. All cards are from 1952-2009. When you redeem you get a chance to win an ENTIRE 1952 set. Topps this year is very fun to collect.

Thanks for the info Ben. I was wondering from where that card comes from. I need to make more trips to Target then :)

I really liked that card. It's small with a unique design. It gives a old school look.

Yeah, I believe there was two redemption cards in my packs. I haven't gone to their website to get the details but I will.

Thanks Ben !

The small card borrows its design from the vintage 1951 Topps red back set. Topps first Baseball card set (with an exception of a photo card set they put out in 1948). So your instincts are right about it having a old school look to them, because it is a old school design. BTW, a Jackie Robinson card is in that red back set.

Hey Ernest, thanks for the info. Good thing it's only 45 cards. It would be nice to complete the set. I need to find the other 44 now :)

I always scour the baseball card section every time I go to Target. I've been greatly disappointed in this last year with the dwindling amount of baseball cards. I try to come away with at least two packs (if not more) every time I go to Target. Of course, since I don't have a job anymore, this has become less and less frequent.

Hi Raiv...

I know about cards, use to collect them as a kid, just haven't done so in a while. So many different things are out there. Need to get used to it. Thanks for the link. I'll check out the videos ! :)
