MLB Notes 10/25/09

I'm waiting for Game 6 of the ALCS to start. Yanks have a 3-2 lead against the Angels but just reading from baseball blogs, it looks like the Yanks have already won the pennant. It's just disrespectful to the Angels. You can even get your Yanks A.L. Champs merchandise.

On to other notes.

Saw this in the morning at S.F. Chronicle.

Joe Torre said he'll step down from managing after next year

I mentioned on Friday that Ned Colletti might have a interest on Japanese High School Pitcher Yusei Kikuchi.

Well forget about it. Kikuchi is staying in Japan. From SI.com

The 18-year-old left-hander, who throws a fastball that has been clocked as high as 96 mph said Sunday he wasn't yet ready for the majors.

"I don't think I have what it takes to complete at the world level yet,'' Kikuchi said at a press conference.

There is another highly regarded Pitcher in the market. That's Cuban Aroldis Chapman. I don't see the Dodgers getting him. Only because he is looking for a 40 to 60 Million contract. The Yankees have invited Chapman to Game 6 of the ALCS. Check out this video of Chapman. He was staying in Andorra, but his agents decided to bring him to New York so teams can easily scout him.

This is very odd. Mark McGwire would always stay away from the press. With all the allegations of Steroid use, he would shy away from any interviews. Now he might be the Cardinals batting coach?

Cleveland Indians select Manny Acta as new manager. He didn't prove anything in Washington. Why do the Indians organization think he will improve them? I think there was better options.

MLB monitoring Dodgers situation. This off-season is going to be full of Frank vs Jamie stories. I hate it.
